The San Joaquin Valley ...
The San Joaquin Valley, sometimes referred to as the Central Valley, is one of the greatest producers of agricultural products in the world. The valley produces about half of the nuts, fruits and vegetables consumed in our country. This is in addition to being a large producer of dairy products. The valley extends roughly from Bakersfield in the south to Sacramento in the north. Going east to west our valley runs from the Sierra Nevada mountains to the mountains of California's coastal range. We are home to over 4 million people. Technically, much of the San Joaquin Valley is a desert. Irrigation is what helped make the valley one of the largest agricultural producers in the world.
